University of Alberta Botanic Garden
Explore over 190-acres of outdoor gardens and nature trails that showcase beautiful flora, fauna, and nature displays. The Tropical Greenhouse showcases beautiful plants like orchids and palm trees that cannot typically be grown in Canada’s climate, and the stunning Kurimoto Japanese Garden contains stunning décor, like statues and waterfalls, alongside open, airy displays of plants and flowers. Weekly events allow you to learn more about the various plants and flowers appearing in the displays.
Edmonton Valley Zoo
Nestled within the scenic river valley, the Edmonton Valley Zoo is a stunning setting in which to view enclosures for over 300 animal species. Nature lovers can explore The Wander Trail, a central trail system among the North Saskatchewan river valley, that will expose grasslands, aspen parklands, and boreal forest. Plus, visit Lucy the Elephant — the Edmonton zoo is now the only place to see an elephant in Alberta — and the award-winning Polar Extremes Arctic Shores exhibit that is home to sea lions, an arctic fox, and an arctic wolf.
Prairie Gardens and Adventure Farm
This outdoor attraction offers over 50 family-friendly activities that take place across a working family farm, including 20 acres of active farmland. Visit the petting zoo, go for a nature walk through a natural parkland forest trail, challenge the corn maze, swing, slide, and climb through the adventure trail, pick some fresh crab apples or berries for eating, and more!
In this 40-acre prehistoric park, you'll encounter and walk among life-sized, startlingly realistic dinosaurs. Over two kilometres of discovery trails in an old-growth forest, you can go on a guided safari, observe dinosaurs in action in their habitats, and dig for ancient dinosaur bones. Learn more about the massive and majestic creatures that ruled the planet 250 million years ago at the Interactive Learning Centre, where you can even ride a dinosaur!
